International Affairs Forum Attend the German American Conference at Harvard

During Oct, the International Affairs Forum had the privilege of attending the German American Conference at Harvard at Harvard Kennedy School. Cadets and German exchange officers discussed transatlantic issues including NATO, the war in Ukraine, cybersecurity, and energy independence. The students met with Sigmar Gabriel, Germany’s former Vice-Chancellor, Emily Haber, Germany’s Ambassador to the United States, and Kostiantyn Usov, the Deputy Mayor of Kyiv. Mr. Gabriel even joined the students for breakfast to share his thoughts on German-U.S. relations and the war in Ukraine. The IAF delegation was part of a broader military exchange at the conference that included representatives of the Naval Academy and the German Armed Forces University-Hamburg.

On Oct 18, the German section hosted a visit from the Chaplain of the German Army. During this visit the Military Bishop of the German Army met with the Dean’s staff (Mr. Brent Matthews), and had a tour of West Point, was a guest lecturer in LG483 (Topic Religion in the German Military and in Society), had lunch in the Cadet Mess Hall, and met with the West Point Chaplain for a discussion on chapl
