Hampton Roads Society Celebrates Founders Day 2026

The West Point Society of Hampton Roads (VA-01) gathered on March 28 to celebrate Founders Day 2026 at the Carl Brashear Conference Center aboard Joint Base Little Creek–Fort Story. The evening brought together graduates, cadet candidates, families, and AOG representative Harris Morris.

The event was emceed by MAJ Robert M. Alexander ’68, former Society President and current Board Member. Following Benny Havens Hour, attendees participated in traditional Founders Day observances, including the Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, traditional toasts, and the Empty Plate Remembrance Toast honoring the fallen and missing.

Guest speaker COL John Baskerville ’90, Head of the Department of English and World Languages at West Point, provided graduates with an update on Academy initiatives. His remarks highlighted new academic programs, the Superintendent’s priorities, and ongoing construction projects aimed at expanding departmental capabilities and increasing capacity across the Academy.

The evening also featured remarks from the Society’s Greenest and Grayest Graduates, a membership meeting, and concluded with the Cadet Prayer and Alma Mater.

Founders Day continues to serve as an important opportunity for graduates to reconnect, stay informed about developments at West Point, and engage with future members of the Long Gray Line.
