Hovren Tabbed as Met Player of the Week
Madison Hovren earned her second weekly honor by being selected at the player of the week by the Met Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday. A 5-11 firstie forward from Spokane, WA, Hovren --- who also was named Patriot League player of the week --- finished with a pair of double-doubles last week, averaging 31.0 points and 18.0 rebounds, when the Black Knights (4-5) defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 62-40 at home and Wagner 61-46 on the road.
She recorded 30 points against FDU, canning 12-of-17 shots from the floor, and then registered a season-high 32 points against Wagner, hitting 10-of-17 from the field and 11-of-15 at the free throw line. Hovren also tied a career high with 22 rebounds against Fairleigh Dickinson and then notched 14 rebounds against the Seahawks. Hovren was also selected as the Patriot League Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. The Black Knights are back in action tonight against Yale, with the tipoff coming at 7 p.m. from Christl Arena.
