Army West Point head football coach Jeff Monken announced the hiring of Kevin Lewis to his staff on Tuesday. Lewis will oversee the Black Knights' defensive line, a position group he's very familiar with. He comes to the Banks of the Hudson with 12 years of experience coaching that unit, most recently a five-year stint at William and Mary. During his time with the Tribe, Lewis coached all-conference selections during each of his five seasons and helped three former defensive linemen earn NFL opportunities.
Highlighting those who benefited from Lewis' tutelage was All-American defensive end Mike Reilly. Honored as the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year, Reilly was a Buchanan Award Watch List selection and signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns following a tremendous senior campaign in which he ranked 13th nationally in sacks per game. Also garnering NFL opportunities were a pair of defensive tackles in Jasper Coleman and Tyler Claytor. Coleman, a 2014 Chuck Boone Leadership Award Nominee, signed a free agent contract with the Houston Texans following his senior season, while Claytor earned a tryout with the Chicago Bears after his first-team all-conference selection in 2016.
