Rabble Rousers to Compete at NCA Nationals
The Army West Point Rabble Rousers are headed to 2019 National Cheerleading Association Cheer and Dance Championship in Florida. The 2019 NCA & NDA Collegiate National Championship is taking place in Daytona Beach, Fla., and the competition starts today and will conclude on Saturday. The event kicked off this morning at 9 a.m. with Army's routine happening in the late afternoon.
"It's hard to put into words how special this weekend in Daytona will be for this team that's about to compete," head coach Matt Feye said. "They have worked so hard to for this moment. They're the best of the best and every year the talent pool continues to grow and becomes hungrier and more talented. Through my three years of coaching the Rabs, this program has grown to represent so much more to me than I have ever imagined. What I'm most proud of is how this program focuses not only on personal victories but the victories of those alongside them, their teammates. When they take the mat at Nationals there is no one person, it's about team unity and how to push each other through the hard times and how to work hard. We are the United States Military Academy and we are going to make a name for our program and the academy."
The Black Knights are competing in the Small Coed Division IA, which is comprised of 12 teams from around the nation in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Army is making its first appearance at nationals since 2006 and the Black Knights are sending a roster of 18 cadet-athletes.
