For the first time since 2015, the Army West Point Gymnastics Team has qualified for the NCAA Championships. In previous seasons, only individual qualifiers have been tabbed to compete. It is the fifth time under Dr. Doug VanEveren that Army has qualified as a team for NCAAs.
The Black Knights are the 12th-seed in the championships and will compete in the April 19th 7 p.m. session. Three teams and the top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will advance from each pre-qualifying session to the finals. Finals competition will take place April 20.
Tickets for the championships are available for single session or weekend prices. Competition will be held at the State Farm Center on the campus of the University Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Full information on the championships can be found here. The Black Knights will compete against No. 1 Oklahoma, host No. 4 Illinois, No. 5 Penn State, No. 8 Iowa and No. 9 Ohio State. Firstie captain Cole Casanova and Mathew Davis will represent the Black Knights in the All-Around competition. Read more.
