Maddie Burns and Caroline Raymond of the Army West Point Women's Lacrosse Team received Patriot League weekly awards on Monday afternoon. The Black Knights went 2-0 on the week, picking up a pair of road victories over Colgate and Boston U. en route to clinching the program's first-ever Patriot League Tournament berth.
Burns, who reeled in her second goalkeeper of the week award of the season, was stellar in goal this past week. The junior totaled 22 saves and came away with two wins to give her 10 on the year. In a Wednesday afternoon meeting with Colgate, Burns stopped 10 shots to help Army capture the road victory. Several days later, she made nine of her 12 saves in the first half against Boston U. to allow the Black Knights to grab a lead they would never relinquish before securing the win. It marked the program's first-ever win over the Terriers.
Raymond, a four-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week recipient, continued her stellar play with a 14-point week on nine goals and five assists. The rookie started with four goals and an assist to push the Cadets past Colgate in Hamilton, N.Y., on Wednesday. She then paced an offensive attack at Boston U. on Saturday with a single-game program record nine points on five goals and four assists.
