With several strong performances this past weekend around Army West Point Athletics, Damaria Morton of the women's rugby team and Mika Andrews of the women's cross country team have been named Army West Point Athletics Association (AWPAA) Co-Athletes of the Week.
Damaria Morton helped Army secure a 70-0 win over Penn State with a six try effort. It was the first victory for the Black Knights over the Nittany Lions in varsity 15s history.
The six tries were not only a career high for Morton but were the most all-time in single game varsity history for the women's rugby program.
The Black Knights are currently the only undefeated team in NIRA league play with a 3-0 record and are 5-1 overall during the fall season. The team will return to action for its final regular season game this Saturday, October 26 on the road at Quinnipiac.
Andrews helped guide the women's cross country team to a Star Meet victory over service academy rival Navy by leading the team with a third place individual finish. The result marks her highest team finish, as she led the Black Knights' run of third through sixth place finishers in the meet.
Army now sets its sights on the Patriot League Championship meet in Hamilton, N.Y., on November 2.
