Army West Point junior captain Sydney Cassalia was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team for the second-straight season. Cassalia, who received Goalkeeper of the Year distinction and All-Patriot League First Team accolades on Tuesday, continued to tack on the league awards as she earned academic praise.
The Omaha, Neb., native boasts a 3.854 grade-point average as a Mathematics major and a Cyber Security minor. She ranks 36th in her class and earned the Superintendent's Award for Excellence and Dean's List recognition every semester. Off the pitch, Cassalia is the A-4 Squad Leader and also achieved the Sword Award.
She was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2017 and 2018 as well. Cassalia had yet another stellar season in net for the Black Knights posting six shutouts, a 0.84 goals against average and 0.792 save percentage, while also notching an assist. Cassalia led Army to a five-game unbeaten streak at the end of the year to boost the Black Knights from as low as seventh in the standings to the third seed.
