Cadets Participate in Celebrations of Poland’s Independence Day
Polish Culture Forum cadets led by Bartek Grzybowski, '21, participated in celebrations of Poland's Independence Day and One Hundred Years of Polish-US Diplomatic Relations.
Cadets heard presentations on Poland's role in the European Union and NATO deployments to Afghanistan as well as Polish American joint military efforts to secure the peace among Poland's neighbors in Ukraine and the Baltic states.
Poland's Ambassador to the US, Piotr Wilczek, who invited West Point cadets to the event, announced that in recognition of Poland's contributions to Euro-Atlantic alliance security Poland has been added to the US Visa Waiver Program. It allows Polish citizens up to ninety-day no-visa visits to the US.
While at the Ambassador's residence, cadets sampled Polish food and hospitality. They interacted with US and Polish military and business leaders as well as members of several foreign diplomatic representations. Travel was funded by a gift from the Irene Bujnoski Trust.
