Army at the Philadelphia Marathon
The Army West Point Marathon Team raced in the Philadelphia Marathon. Founded in 1954, the race is one of the nation’s largest running events with over 30,000 runners and 60,000 spectators. The race day offered challenging conditions with cold temperatures and rain.
The team showed their collective depth by having all fifteen runners qualify for the Boston Marathon at the race. The fastest male was Cadet Zachary Gould '23, with a time of 2:43. The fastest female was Cadet Sara Scales '21, with a time of 2:59. The team was grateful for all the support from their family members who traveled long distances to come to cheer on the sidelines.
