Five cadets from the Cadet Competitive Cyber Team (C3T) competed at the SANS Core NetWars Tournament of Champions in Washington, D.C. on December 15 & 16. The Cadets qualified for the Tournament based on their exceptional performance winning the SANS Core NetWars event during Spring Break 2019, in St. Louis. During the Spring Break event C3T beat all the other military academy teams winning the SANS Academy Cup. They also beat all the civilian teams present, qualifying them for this Tournament of Champions!
The cadets competed alongside teams from the 780th Military Intelligence Brigade (Cyber), the Cyber Protection Brigade, ARCYBER, other government agencies, and experts from industry. The cadets finished 8th in their category of non-returning champions with a score of 320 of the 609 possible points.
The presence of the cadets on the champion side caught the attention of the above organizations and the cadets were also included in PAO coverage of the NetWars event by multiple organizations.
