Cadets Learn About Caleb Benson and Army Laundresses

Cadets Learn About Caleb Benson and Army LaundressesHI101 Instructor CPT Mandi Rollinson worked with one of USMA’s librarians, Ms. Mary Ahenakew, to teach Cadets about the experiences of Buffalo Soldier Caleb Benson and Army laundresses on the frontier in the late 1800s. Ms. Ahenakew modeled how databases can assist cadets with their HI101 research. She explained about the contemporary experiences of Native Americans – in, out of, and with the Army - and Black cadets at USMA to further complicate how cadets understand the Army.
