Debate Takes Top Three of Four at Remote TournamentWest Point - The U.S. Military Academy continued its tradition of hosting an annual debate tournament by conducting the Academy’s first remote debate tournament from October 30 to November 1, 2020. The tournament included 46 participants from seven different colleges and universities.

Army Debate performed extremely well as all four teams finishing the tournament with winning records. Cadets Tristan Monahan ’24 and Alex MacFarlane ’24 continued their winning ways by finishing first in the novice division. Additionally, Army Debate teams captured three of the top four places in the Open division. Cadet Greg Drake ’21 finished the preliminary rounds undefeated with a partner from Columbia University before being narrowly defeated in the Open championship by a team from NYU.

The team earned individual accolades as well with Cadets Monahan and MacFarlane earning 3rd and 4th place speaker awards, respectively, in the novice division and Cadets Vivian Tsai ’23 and Dhyuti Gopalakrishna ’23 earning recognition in the Open division.
