Rifle Adds Three Matches to Slate
The No. 5 Army West Point Rifle team announced the addition of three matches to its 2020-21 schedule yesterday afternoon.
Army will play host to the All-Academy President's Trophy match featuring the following service academies: No. 6 Air Force, No. 18 Coast Guard and No. 14 Navy on Friday, November 6. The next day, the Black Knights will take on Air Force in a dual match. Additionally, the Black Knights will compete against No. 10 Akron in Palmyra, Pa. on Sunday, November 15.
Army has set program records in both of its matches this fall. The Cadets opened the season with a score of 4682 against Kentucky on October 17. Then on October 31, they bested that score with a mark of 4686 in a virtual tri-match with Nebraska and West Virginia.
In their most recent match, the Black Knights had four members record scores of at least 580 in smallbore and had three shooters at or above the 590-mark in air rifle.
The Cadets opened the season ranked 11th in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll and have climbed their way up to No. 5 in the nation with their first two marks.
