Men's Tennis Closes Out Weekend with 27 Victories Against Air ForceThe Army West PointMen's Tennis team closed out their weekend long tournament with the United States Air Force Academy Saturday afternoon in the final two rounds of doubles and singles play. The Black Knights and the Falcons competed in a total of 53 matches through three days, with the Black Knights coming out victorious in 27 matches.

After a dominant performance in singles play on Friday afternoon, Army returned for play Saturday morning, eager to carry over their success into the third and final round of doubles. In the opening bracket of East vs West, both teams split at an even three victories a piece. The teams of Diego Huttepain/Jake Huarte, David Gorshein/Samuel Haikal and Daniel Zhou/Paul Roberts each recorded a win for Army with scores of 8-6, 8-3 and 8-4 respectively.

When the duos met again in the final round, Army took the advantage on Air Force, capturing wins in four of the six final matchups. Gorshein/Haikal and Zhou/Roberts picked up their second team wins of the day with added victories from Nikita Larichev/Samuel Eden and Nathan Jose/Stanley Liu.

The Black Knights struggled to find momentum in the final round of singles, notching five total wins between the Black/Blue and Gold/Silver matchups. In the Black/Blue bracket, Huttepain started the afternoon with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory against Air Force's Baylon followed by a 6-3, 6-3 win by Zhou over Vroman. Army took three hard fought victories in the Gold/Silver bracket, with individual wins by Huarte (6-2, 6-2), Haikal (6-2, 1-6, 10-7) and Jose (3-6, 6-2, 10-1). Read more.
