The Army West Point Volleyball team picked up its third consecutive win this past Sunday afternoon, topping Holy Cross 3-1. “I'm proud of our team today,” Army head coach Alma Kovaci Lee said. “Somewhere in the middle of that match, they looked at each other and committed to elevating their game.”
Firstie setter Hannah Presley had a match-high 41 assists and had no setting errors. “Hannah did an awesome job stabilizing our hitters and our passers did a great job giving Hannah options to set,” Kovaci Lee added.
The Black Knights had three plebes finish with 10 or more kills. Mackenzie Karnig and Allanah Cutler tied for the team-lead with 14 and Paige Fixemer added 10. Firstie Monica Eckford finished with nine and had the team's top hitting percentage at .400 on the day.
Army won the first set, 25-18, with 18 of its points coming on kills. The Cadets posted a hitting percentage of .341 on the first frame. The Black Knights' hitting percentage dropped to .170 in the second set and the Crusaders managed even things up at 1-1. Read more
