Cadets Visit the Holocaust Memorial Museum
Faculty of West Point’s Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies (CHGS) accompanied 45 cadets to Washington, DC for a two-day program on Law, the Holocaust, and War Crimes at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Cadets spent a full day exploring the Museum’s permanent and special exhibits, followed by workshops led by distinguished Museum scholars and legal experts. The visit culminated with a recorded presentation by Holocaust survivor Frank Cohn, who shared his gripping stories of fleeing Germany in October 1938 only to return as an American GI during the liberation of Europe in 1945. CHGS is an academic center, supported by Margin of Excellence funding, aimed at educating the country’s current and future leaders on how past genocides have occurred and what can be done to prevent them in the future.
