Cadets Design Balsa Wood BeamsCadets enrolled in MC364 (Mechanics of Materials) designed, built, and destroyed balsa wood beams using the Engineering Design Process. The teams were challenged to design the most efficient beam with the greatest strength to weight ratio. A winner was also selected for “best looking” beam and closest prediction of the failure load.
