Baseball Earns Second-Straight Patriot League Sweep

The Army West Point Baseball Team swept Patriot League foe Holy Cross in a doubleheader. The Black Knights blanked the Crusaders 7-0 before outslugging the visiting team in a 13-7 victory. The Black Knights had strong performances on both sides of the ball in their first game of the day, which was highlighted by CDT Connelly Early’s ’24 pitching, through his six-inning start, the southpaw struck out five batters and gave up just one hit, which was tallied in his final frame of work. Cadets Julia Riekena ’23 and Kaitlyn Schwarting ’22 of Army West Point Women’s Rugby have been nominated for the 2022 MA Sorensen Award. Reikena and Schwarting have started in every match and helped the Black Knights reach the 2021 NIRA DI Championship during the 15’s season.
