Cadets Visit Wolf Conservation Center

Published on October 27, 2022

GENE Cadets in EV471 Ecology visited the Wolf Conservation Center (WCC) in South Salem, New York, to learn about the ecology and conservation of North American wolves. The WCC is home to 33 wolves as part of the federal recovery programs for the Mexican gray wolf and the red wolf. Cadets learned about the challenges of captive management, the importance of community engagement when reintroducing top predators, and the critical roles that scientists have in the process. Out-of-classroom opportunities like this visit are made possible by donors supporting the Margin of Excellence.
