Esper ’86 Confirmed as Secretary of Defense

The Senate confirmed Mark T. Esper ’86 as Secretary of Defense by a 90-8 vote on July 23, ending the longest period to date that the Pentagon has been without a permanent leader. Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the majority leader, called Mr. Esper a “well-prepared nominee” who will face a world “full of serious threats to America, to our allies and to our interests.” Read more.
